We have just moved all our PC's/Outlook to cached mode and have had some issues since. When a number of users try to action a recall request, their outlook locks up and has to be terminated and restarted.

This has only started since the change.

Thanks
Kris

What are the specs on the machines having the issues?

What version of outlook and exchange is being used?

Do they all have the latest updates?

What other programs are running in the background?

Is google desktop installed on any of these machines?

While I would have asked same questions as Average, I would also ask...why are so many users recalling messages? just wondering...
Have you tried one user going back to uncached and see what happens? Are they in office or remote?
Just trying to narrow down possibilities

PC Spec - All PC's are identical in spec.

Outlook 2003 and Exchange 2003 all patched and updated.

No google desktop on any PC's.

This has only started since we changed to cached mode. The e-mails have been sent to a group of users but not all will report this, only a couple have reported the problem. One user today said they opened the e-mail that was being recalled and then actioned the recall. Outlook locked up when the recall was actioned by the user. All are in the office, no remote users. Not turned off cached mode as this has been turned on for a reason so if we have to turn this off then we have another problem.

Only programs that are running in the background are AVG, that could effect this. We have had one or two issues with the AVG plug in for Outlook with various users so this could be a factor I suppose.

Thanks
Kris

So the freeze occurs when they open the sent email, tools-click on Recall?

"One user today said they opened the e-mail that was being recalled and then actioned the recall. Outlook locked up when the recall was actioned by the user"
I dont get this part, the user who recieved it is recalling it? Is that possible? Is it the receivers of the recalled email having the problem or the user who sends it?

It takes 2 minutes to test if its the cached mode, I suggest trying it. Also, if Word is default email editor change it to something else for testing purposes.

Sorry, been busy.

What I mean is when the user who has received the e-mail that is being recalled, opens the e-mail, and then selects the recall request. It's at that point that the lock up occurs.

We have never had this at all until we changed to cached mode.

Thanks
Kris
