What is involved in doing this? I also want to move a terminal, but this terminal is connected to my kitchen printer. When I move this I will not use the cash drawer or recipt printer. The last issue we have, is there an easy way to put barcodes of items in and keeping track of quanities on hand and how many we have sold. Mike D

The procedure for rebuilding the db is going to depend on the version of 3700 you're using. If you have 4.0 or above it's just a matter of clicking the Rebuild button in database manager. If you have 3.x you do it from the start menu. Something like Start | Programs | Micros Apps | Utilities | Database | Rebuild Database. You'll need the right permissions for each. 3.x needs a database user, 4.x uses Micros employee class privileges.
Either way, make sure you back up the db before starting.

Moving a workstation that runs a remote printer is a pain. I'm assuming you have IDN printers since they're most common. The IDN printer cables look a lot like those flat phone wires.
If you're running version 4.6 you may want to look into converting your remote printers to IP. It's about $100/printer, but you don't have to worry about extra lines and loopbacks anymore.
Here's how to move a workstation running an IDN remote.
[ul]
[li]Run 2 data lines from your patch panel to the new location for your workstation. [/li]
[li]Terminate both with female data jacks on the workstation end and punch them down into your patch panel on the office side.[/li]
[li]Plug the network cable from the workstation into one of the jacks. On the office side patch it into your switch.[/li]
[li]Take the cable that went from your workstation to its check printer and plug it into the other jack. This is your printer return line.[/li]
[li]Find the port on your patch panel that goes to the kitchen printer. It will have a jumper cable going to another port. Take the side of that jumper that isn't connected to the kitchen printer's port and move it to the port for the new printer return line.[/li]
[li]Make sure you change the printers for this workstation in the configurator since it will no longer have a check printer attached.[/li]
[/ul]

I don't know about bar codes, but the 3700 has a simple, built-in inventory module. There are a few setup buttons for it under the Sales tab in the configurator. I think the Quick Count button will get you started, but I haven't used it in years so can't really help with the details.
