We are using Micro Focus Object COBOL (32 bits) version 4.0.07.
Rebuilding corrupted Microfocus indexed files with rebuild.exe works fine with Windows 9x en NT 4.0, but doesn't seem to work with Windows 2000.
We use the following option: rebuild [file] /i /e
I do use a MF cobol (Visoc), but I'm not sure we use the MF isam indexed files, or at least we use different tools to rebuild (It's repository-driven).
Suggestion: You (should) have a good empty index file. Then copy that over the currently bad indexfile, and perform the rebuild? You might need an extra switch (/b ???) to rebuild the index from data, I don't know. rebuild /? should show available options.
rebuild {file} /i/e should work fine on your ISAM files on
W2K. We do it all the time, including on WXP. I suspect
that your IDX file is so corrupt that rebuild can't detect
your key settings. Take prior commentators suggestion &
copy a good known IDX of the same file in another location
and then rebuild. Should be fine then,.
