Hi folks.

We have a E420R server with 2x450Mhz CPU, 2GB RAM and Solaris 7.
The server is spontaneously rebooting ( not panicing )with the message "System booting after fatal error FATAL".
At first we thought about a hardware problem and changed the mainboard and the CPU( one week ago ), but the error is still there.

any tips?

regards
sirius

System booting after fatal error FATAL

Hi Ken.
these are the first 3 lines of the messages file after a reboot.
There are no other error messages in /var/adm/messages.

I can only suggest halting the system and then restarting with the "sync" option. I have a colleague who uses this in certain circumstances and it will do a general tidy-up. It's worth a try.
