A customer recently told me that their head office had been told by another interconnect company that it is a good idea to reboot their MICS (or any system in general) aprox. once a year . The tech said that he used to reboot only if absoluteley needed and that there were no benefits to rebooting unnecasarily, but he had been proven wrong. I have sent this tech an e-mail asking for more details but in the mean time - what do you guys, or girls(politically correct eh? )think?

THE MICS, I WOULD SAY NOT THE NAM WHICH IS NOTHING BUT A PC THAT'S ANOTHER QUESTION

He's got a point. Without a large UPS on the system, it's bound to happen naturally at least once a year.

I got mine in a few weeks ago. UPS only held it for an hour & half. Had to shut-off to go on portable generator. Then reboot again to go back to UPS when power came on.

I guess I need a bigger UPS :)

if it aint broke dont fix it ...

if there is no problem, no alarm logs ... there is no need to reboot

I agree with senk. Let it run, just make backups of the system on a regular basis. As long as you have backups you should be OK. Come to think of it, maybe thats what the original interconnect meant in the first place. Maybe somewhere down the line regular backups turned into regular reboots. Remember that game whisper down the lane, The message was never the original at the end of the line.
