Reboot problems

I recently upgraded our farm from XPe FR3 to PS4. All my 2003 servers are fine but I've had a number of problems with the 2000 (SP4) servers. I've figured out most of them except one where the scheduled reboots don't work as expected. On some of the Win2K servers I can see from the event logs that the automatic reboot process starts but never finishes. The net result is that I have servers that are still up but won't accept any connections, you can't even log on at the console because the keyboard doesn't work. The only cure is a hard reset.

It happens sporadically on a number of servers.

Has anybody seen this before.

The servers in question are IBM x330's or x335's.

enigma99,

Thanks for the input.

Unfortunately these articles reference Win2k3, it's my Win2K servers that are the problem. I'm not having any troubles like this with my Win2K3 servers. I'll check to see if an admin is logged on at the console next time though.

Thanks.
