We are working on a script here to install the latest version of NAV. There are 2 other small applications we need to install first, reboot the machine then continue with the script from where we left off.
Could anyone shed some light on how to do this or give me some pointers?

Create two separate scripts, one for the install before the reboot and one for after. Create a program in the package for each script. Then use the option to "run another program first" in the advanced tab of your second program to have SMS run your first script ahead of the second. Force your reboot using your script or SMS.

This will allow for the reboot and continue with the balance of your installation all using only one advertisement that will report status on both programs that run.

Hope that helps.
