My Enterprise 450 Solaris 2.6 server hangs for a long time while it performs some type of file system check (consistency check) on a cache file system that we mount over a WAN. Is this normal behavior or is there something I have not configured for cachefs that leaves the OS thinking that the cache has to be completely checked again before it is remounted? The hang take as long as 15 minutes to complete.

Look at your /etc/vfstab and verify that the entry for that filesystem does NOT run fsck. You should NOT be running an FSCK on a remotely mounted filesystem.

Alternatively, make sure that NFS is not trying to mount a remote filesystem in the foreground. This operation can be placed in the background so that the system can continue to boot.
