Ill start off with saying i have very minimal telco experience but not afraid to dive in :).

Have an old Norstar ICS system. One of my fax lines went dead. It appears to be at the port as I moved the line over to a new port and I'm now getting dial tone. My issue is i want to keep the existing fax number that is in my DID range. I went into the programming on one of my phones and did a DN change which i though worked but it only works internally when i dial the 4 digit extension. When i dial from an outside line it appears to still be directing to the old EXT from the port i changed to.

How do i get this new port to reflect the change? TIA

Doing a DN change is fine but it looks as if the target line or line assignment wasn't swapped over. I think that this will be where your problem is.

You did not mention what hardware we are dealing with.
You say "I moved the line over to a new port"
It sounds like you didn't move a line, but rather an ATA because PRI (which you might have?) does not use Lines or Line ports.

Are you moving an external portATA onto another digital port?
or do you have an ASM8 (8 port ATA module) and moving the fax jack's jumper to another analog port?

Moving an ATA to another digital port - turn on set relocation then move the ATA to another digital port
Moving the fax's station jumper on an ASM to another port - Copy programming, old port to the new port, then do the DN change, then the name change.
