Reappearing instances on Desktop

Hi all

I deleted a pile of failed & stopped instances off the Info Desktop yesterday and they were removed just fine.

I had cause to restart the APS today, and when I connected back into the Desktop yesterdays instances had reappeared!!
Has anybody seen this before, or got any clues?
