Well, There is a trick to this madness. If you notice, there is no rge.conf in /kernel/drv.
Create rge.conf with your favorite editor and place the following lines inside it.
speed = 1000;
full-duplex = 1;
What this does is basically disabling autonegotiation and it forces the link speed to 1000 Full duplex.
Reboot the box and your all set.
