I am not able to install Windows SQL Server 2000 standard on a Windows Server 2003. I am aware of the issue with servicepack 3. The problem is that I am not able to continue to the point where I can install SP3, because the setup itself quits without any further notice or warning.

What I did:
SQL-Server Components -> Install database server -> From this point the setup just quits.

The eventlogs are empty. No error messages are popping up or anything.

This is a clean install of Windows 2003, but it has been patched up with windows update before the installation.

Anyone experienced this before? Any working solution?

Yep, that's your problem. Not much is supported on Web Edition. I'm kind of suprised that there was no message telling you what the problem was.

I have had a similar problem installing sql200 on 2003 enterprise edition. It fails telling me that the correct service pack is not installed. I have now installed it on a 2k server but if anyone has a solution that will be great. By the way it has all the latest updates.

Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?

biglebowski,

You should have started your own thread, but anyways...

You must have SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3 to install SQL Server on a Windows 2003 system.

Search this site and you'll find other posts on this subject.
