Really Slow Connection using BEFW11S4 and WMP54G

I've had my BEFW11S4 11 Mbps Wireless-B router for over a year now and about 3 months ago upgraded my wireless PC from a W11USB USB adapter (primarily cos of momentary drops during online gaming) to a WMP54G Wireless-G PCI card. I had intended at some point to upgrade the router too but never got around to it.

Anyway, over the last week I have been suffering a connection on the same level as that of dialup despite us being on NTL (UK) broadband. Some pages take over a minute to load, MSN drops out over 5 minutes, X fire logs out every half hour etc.

Now our other PC seems to have no problems but it's hardwired to the router itself. I have a PS2 with a WGA54G gaming point which allows me to play PS2 games online and it doesn't seem to have a slow connection, although I doubt if they have the same bandwidth requirements of PC games.

Checking the windows wireless monitor (I had a choice of windows or Linksys but the manual said for XP users to go with windows) in the system tray shows me that it's listed as 11.0 mBps and that the signal strength is 'Very good'.

Is there anyway of pinning down exactly what is strangling my beloved broadband? Help would be most appreciated.

Ok, solved the problem. I simply changed the channel as any radio signal item tends to interfer with the signal. But we have no cordless phone or other wireless equipment.

Turns out our next door neighbours have the same router and were experiencing the same problems. I changed the channel to 6 from 11. (1, 6, 11 are the only channels that don't overlap)

Hopefully this will help anyone in the same hair tearing predicament.
