Really ODD: smtp service deleted in 2003server after reboot

Installed the sms for smtp v5.0 on 2003 server.

We were configuring server everything was good. Upon reboot, the smtp services vanished from service list however registry entries were there.

Thought the latest update was the culprit because after the machine updated and needed a reboot the services vanished.

Has anybody else had an issue with IIS and SMTP service vanishing after reboot?
