Hello everyone,

One of my friends just offered me a cisco pix 515e for $600, he bought it brand new, I have heard this router can do VPN too, but that would be awesome if you guy can give me ideas what you think about this router and does it worth to buy with that price ?. By the way, the router look 80-90% new. Thanks alot.

A pix 515e is a firewall and not a router and yes it can do VPNs. If you plan on using it for your home or for a lab then its fine, however I don't recommend buying second hand cisco gear for a business.

thanks for the opinion, again newbie question, does it worth for that price ?

Sounds like a good deal to me too. It's not an absolute MUST, but see if you can get a 3DES license for it too, that's important for VPNs. If there is support for the serial number, it's usually free, check here:
