Hi I'm new to this buy does anyone know the benefits of upgrading from Realitis vs 6 to vs 8 or 9. It's usually about cost but it's good to know the benefits

It's mainly a support and expansion issue - not sure there are 1000's of more practical benefits.

We are having ours updated from 6.2 to 9 but that's purely because we need more extension cards and Siemens won't now activate the slots on anything as old as version 6.2

I'm sure there are a few new commands that I might find useful - I just haven't looked for them yet.

Also if your switch developes a fault (or so I'm told) and it's software related your maintainer won't get any help from Siemens if it's an older version. I guess it's like Microsoft really !

Thats right about software support, Siemens will not write patch for old software, mind you, if you have not got a problem then that's OK then. Going with the Microsoft analogy a version 6 isdx would be like NT3.51 or Win95

As for features, some that come to mind are -
Hotdesking, home working, networked ACD, Networked keysystem
Voip – Desktop , trunking , SIP carrier support soft clients
user selectable CLI
Auto BST/GMT time change , network time support (sntp)
call deflect to voice mail

There are some handy new commands including lucf/rucf list and revise user controlled features (diverts DND etc) lecs leta list extensions by cos or tac.
