We are currently running TSM on OS/390 and we're getting transfer rates anywhere from 3 or 4 MBS up to 20 MBS, that translates into from around 6 gig an hour to near 22 gig an hour, given some hardware/software delays, mounts, etc. I realize there are all sorts of criteria set to determine whether a transfer rate is good or not. Would it be realistic to expect 60 to 100 gig an hour? I heard examples of achieving 200+ gig an hour on an AIX platform, anyone getting close to that? Any feedback would be appreciated....

What are your bufpool and logfile size current set at?
How about you sessions parm?

bufferpool is set to selftune, but, when I checked it was at 2,232 K, logfile size is 2048 and sessions parm is set to 25 (max active at 12). we rarely get above 5 sessions.

Bufferpool looks ok. May want to tweek the logifle size a bit. Not sure why you can get above 5 active session. Is it due to the nature of your backup of nodes? Should have asked about network topology. Fast eth or GbE? Full duplex. Switched? Database size. Version of TSM?
