Real Odd Problem with Desktop Icons and Mouse 2

My Pastors computer, a Compaq, has a lot of icons on the desktop. Very recently, when the mouse moves accross ANY icon the whole screenfull of icons act like a slot machine! They twinkle, dance all over the screen and never end up in the same place. He uses a scrolling mouse which I replaced with a non-scrooling one but that did not help. Any ideas?

Howdy:

Windows does have a limit on the number of shortcuts/icons that be placed on the Desktop.. Get rid of some (make a new folder, group similiar shortcuts in it and then place that on the Desktop)..

OR, he could be infected with the Magistr virus.

Yup, sounds like Magistr to me too. Most people describe it as "the icons jump away from the mouse"..... Definitely run an AV program.
