Recently I have had two Startalk Flash units fail, I suspect due to dirty power. In both cases, the flash unit itself survived nicely, but the software card failed. I was able to get both units operational again by replacing the cards. Both customers NOW have UPS on their systems, BOTH had been warned previously! I am hoping I can avoid a repeat of this problem by backing up the software on the card and then being able to reformat and rewrite the software should the card corrupt in the future.
My question is this; since these cards are actually "normal" flash memory cards, they should be readable and writable by a card reader like those in laptops. How is this done? There is a company called elan digital systems who say their Memory Card Explorer software will read and write any kind of card, but they no longer offer a demo. And I am not interested in spending hundreds of $ to see if their software works.
Does any one have any experience with this?
Thanks
