I have been emailed a document that was created in Star Office. The document has a file extension of .sdw.

I am using MS Word 2002, and cannot read the document. Is there anything that either the sender or I can do that will make this document readable on my end?

Get the sender to save it in Word format and then you will be able to read it!

Cheers,
Carl.

Carl, thanks for the info. By saving the Star Office document as a Word document, do you mean to give it a file extension of .doc? If so, and when this was attempted, the document was automatically given an extension of sdw.doc. In other words the document has both the Star Office and Word file extensions.

I don't know what version of Star Office the sender is using...would this make a difference.

Would you please give me step by step instuctions?

Hi,

The sender does a "Save As" and then selects "Doc" from the File Type. This then saves the document in Word Format.

Cheers,
Carl.
