HAve set up a call flow

User enters 4 digit pin .

Use $key to check this against SQl database table

Fails every time

Have checked thay $key holds user entered pin by having a pin entry with a live extention no which i pass to an extention and all works fine

I suspect the database lookup is not identifying the field correctly

Has anyone had problems with this feature

Can I suggest that you look at the bookshop demo to make sure you are 100% Ok with the way you program this.

You can download and install the modules from the following link

Lol, I have been looking at this my self tonight. This wasnt on the 4.0 engineering tools cd I had, but had a look @ the on line knowledge base, made my database and call flows for my engineering miles tonight so just need to test tomorrow on our real VM server.

spridge its worth a download, just to check you got all your options right.
you can download the whole lot here. BE AWARE it over writes your current modules.

Do it on an offline vm!!

Sorry IP Office man, just replicated what you'd already had. Apologies.

Check the query, datatype of $key and your data is the same? I think vm pro treats it as text.

Have loaded the Bookshop demo and replicated the database entries with no look

Database table has fields set as numeric

I will change to text and retest tommorrow

Thanks for all of your comments so far

I will keep you posted

Get someone who know SQL queries. This has been one of our stengths with datbase integration as we can fix up or enhance the SQL query created by the wizard.

Never had a problem with it buthave to know the database structure and how to write an SQL query properly to make it work.

Hi guys,

I've been working with Spridge on this one. It's really weird, but I've been trying various testing methods out to see where this is failing...

1) Exchanging the database query for a straight forward condition test works just fine. I used this to ensure that the test (including numbers encapsulated in double quotes) works OK. Both positive and negative testing are fine here.

2) I made sure that I was using a System DSN in ODBC to connect to our SQL server. We're using domain authentication and I've logged on as our vm user to ensure that there's no authentication problems. Testing the connection to the database in the VM Pro client works fine.

3) Building the SELECT statement in the Execute module seems to work fine. Moving the SQL statement into an Access database query to test the result also works fine (also I needed to add 'dbo_' to the start of the table name). I have substituted $key for 1234 in the expression in the SQL wizard to rule out any key press anomalies, and the field has 1 record with this value.

4) Save and make live. Call the module and it fails every time at the Execute module.

The fields are all char fields in the SQL database. I'm trying to find some information in the VM manual about constructing the database but it's scarse at best! Does anyone have any ideas where I may be going wrong?

Thanks for your help in advance...
