Reading specific cell values from MS Excel

Is it possible to read specific cells from MS Excel and MS Project files using java, and write it to MS Access.

There is an API called HSSF which is part of the POI Project that is offered by Apache to read Excel files (

http://jakarta.apache.org/poi/index.html).

It is fairly simple to use and there is pretty good Docs on the website to address the learning curve. If after going to the site you need a code samples to help you get started let me know...

Another option is to create an odbc link to the spreadsheet and write SQL to get the value(s)...

I never had to do anything w/MS project files so I can't help you out there...
