Reading Micro Focus Cobol data files

I want to read data from a system written uing MF Cobol. The files are *.DAT with *.IDX index files. What are these likely to be? Btrieve? Or some Micro Focus proprietary format? Is there a Clarion driver available?

I have my own procedure for converting MF cobol *.dat files to other format (*.tps). I will prepare this for tomorrow, if you stil need this.
