reading material for stored procedure and sql queries

You need to learn SQL, or at least the things that it can do that Crystal can't. SQL is much better at collecting data and can also group several times and discard records that don't meet criteria.
Basically you need to get an SQL textbook, lots of those around. You can then ignore the bits about formatting or totalling because Crystal does those things better.
