Good afternoon, not sure why but some time ago I stopped being able to read the code in posts. I'm (still) using Internet Explorer and the code just appears in one line but is almost completely obscured.

Any ideas?

Many thanks,
D€$

Could be an IE plugin issue. Try right-clicking the code window and see if you can view in another tab.

I've noticed this behavior if the post is old but not for newer posts. Wondered about it myself but just assumed it had something to do with archiving.

Yeah, maybe it's just the older ones. VERY frustrating when you're desperately seaching for answers to a tricky and involved issue!!

Many thanks,
D€$

Playing with the 'Compatibility View Settings' option on the Tools menu in IE11 may be worth a shot.

Hi D€$,

we can check that right away. Can you read this:
Code:
try
{
  MessageBox.Show("Internet Explorer sucks!");
}
catch
{
  MessageBox.Show("But I, too, need it occasionally.");
}

How's the display?

MakeItSo:

I can confirm what PWD is seeing on an XP box I have with IE8. It only happens in code boxes of threads that are older than 2 or 3 years. Your code box here looks fine.

I see!
I have just checked my archive and found a thread of 2006. Back then the code was in divs with id="code", now it's in div with class="code".
Probably some old remnant in their css that's not up to snuff with IE8.

If I find some time tomorrow, might be worth looking into the respective CSS parts using Firefox WebDeveloper extension.

It is an issue with IE8 that surfaced when some changes were made to the site's code a while back.

I dream of IE8. Only on IE7 here at work!!

Many thanks,
D€$

Sorry, should have said IE8 and earlier. I suspect that IE7 compatibility is no longer specifically tested for on this site.

Sigh!

Many thanks,

Could someone please post a link to a specific thread on which this problem arises, so we can test whether we are afflicted?

Random example of problem: thread707-1658983
See code block in last post... all one line in IE8/XP
