I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question, or not. So, if it is not, please let me know.

Soon, I will be upgrading servers throughout the organization to FBSD 6.0. The upgrade is basically going to consist of taking the old hard drive out of the system and replacing it with a new hard drive containing the new operating system.

The drives which are currently in the system have the user data which will have to be moved to the new server. Does anyone know of a utility, which I can use with Windows which will allow me to read a UFS formatted drive when it is in a USB chasis? I have found utilities for this which will work with IDE, but not USB.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

what kind of OS is installed on the hard disks, that you want to take your data? If it is a *nix then you should install samba to it and transfer all you data to your windows box.
Or you can get the data of your HD after you install the "freesbie" mounting the HD to you new system.

Since the server already has SAMBA installed, I believe this is exactly what I am going to do.

Thanks for your help.
