Reading a parallel port ( for a printer )on AIX 4.0

Hello everybody
I am trying to read a parallel port on AIX 4.0 but according to the documentation 'read' funct is not implemented for parallel ports. Thinking to use ioctl function from /usr/include/sys/ directory but I coulnd't find any structure in lpio.h ( same directory ) to import data. Any suggestions are welcome.
