We have a CCTV camera connected to a Matrox Meteor II and use the Matrox Imaging Library to "grab" a still picture and process it. This is quite expensive! Does anyone know if it is possible to use a USB Webcam to do the same thing from within our own VB6 software? Once we have a bmp, tif or jpg I'm sure our programmers can find what we are looking for!
Thanks

As far as i know you can take pictures with web cameras .
it all depends on the software that comes with it .
Check specs in some data webshop if it supports the
file formats and still pictures .
By the way resolution is very low on webcameras .

Most of the webcams I have looked at have software to do this - but I want to access the picture from our own application.

A bit of searching led me to Marvelsoft's videoOCX which is an ActiveX control that can be used in our program. I'll see if one of our programmers will give it a try...
