I am looking for a dll or ocx to read the windows registry. Does anyone know of something like this?

Sure

1) VB itself has some registry read/writing function calls (but I'm guessing you know that and have concluded that they are too limiting)

2) The Microsoft Windows Script Host Object Model library has registry methods in the wshShell class

3) WMI has registry functionality that you can use from VB

4) There is a dedicated DLL, regobji, from Microsoft that provides registry functions
