asked this before but never solved the 'issue' really.. i want people to get na directory-listing of some directories on the webserver without making an index.html or whatever.. when i go to a directory (or folder) i get this error:

--//
Access forbidden!
You don't have permission to access the requested directory. There is either no index document or the directory is read-protected.
If you think this is a server error, please contact the Webmaster
Error 403

Apache/2.0.28 (Win32)
--//

anyone know how to solve this ?? thanks in advance.

too be honest, i dunno.. just discovered something weird (or not) i can list/browse directories in the 'main' domain so to speak, but it doesn't work on any virtual domains. what the h*ck :}

If you're using VirtualHosts, add Options +Indexes to the VirtualHost configuration. That should enable the Indexes for it, and should allow directories to be listed. //Daniel

thanks man that worked.. brings me to the next question :}} how do i make it so that only certain directories can be listed in the virtual host ?

thanks alot!

You could put a .htaccess file in those directories that shouldn't be allowed to get lsited. The only line in it would be
Options -Indexes
That disables indexing for that directory. //Daniel

tried that.. it made sense but unfortunatly it doesn't work, i can still get a listing of the directory in which i placed the .htaccess file with only the line you mention in it.

Does your error_log give you any errors?
If AllowOverride is set to none, .htaccess wouldn't work. //Daniel

no error in my logs.. is that strange ? anyway.. AllowOverride would be set to ??

You could try and set AllowOverride all and see if it works then. If it doesn't, then there is some other problem. //Daniel
