Read Only Tables

How do I get my tables to be writable? When I try to update intsert or alter a table it comes back Table is read only. and it does not matter if I am using the database provided or one of my own. I am using linux and i have write permisions to the files.

Any help would be appreciated.

you need to grant permissions on the table to be able to write / alter...

also consider using phpmyadmin to admin the db...easier to set users and permissions

I do have the those permissions. Actually I have all the permissions
