Hey folks-
Excuse the newbe question...
Is it possible to put a quicktime file onto a HDD permanently so that it cannot be altered or thrown away?
I know about the lock feature in "get info", but is there a ROM-like way to do it?

Thanks.

If by 'ROM like' you mean the way a DVD or CD works then no. The reason you can't throw stuff away is because it's physically 'burned' onto the media. You can't physically burn anything onto a conventional HDD.

However, you could change the permissions of the file so it becomes Read only to all but Admin users (for example).
If you have your users accounts set up properly then they won't be able to remove the file or alter the permissions unless they are logged in with an account that permits those actions.
