i am trying to remove "read only" from every single folder on both of my hard drives. the files inside of them are not read only...they are ok, its just the directories and sub directies in each, no files. my system is xp, ntfs, i am on that "small business network" that network neibhorhood has to connect to my laptop.
any idea how to remove the "read only" from all the folders and why are they even "read only" anyways?
thanks...tony

i forgot to add....
i would goto properties of the directory and uncheck the read only status, it brings up the standard "all directories below...etc.." i select ok, then ok again to close the dialogue box....then i can goto the folder/directory again a couple of seconds later, right click and goto properties, and its back to "read only".

That's the way XP is, don't worry about it. If you want to see other posts about this, do a keyword search in this forum for read only
