I have created a database that is on a network for 4 users.

I put the file on the server on computer A and everything works fine. When I go to computer B when it opens it says it is read only. I have had the network admin check permissions and everything is correct.

I found somewhere that if I create a new database and import everything it would work. So I did that and it does work on Computer B but now when I go to computer A the new database opens read only.

I created the db in Access 2000 but they are running Access 2003. I converted the database to Access 2003 and still get the same result.

I don't know about Computers C & D we have to install Access.

Hopefully that is enough information. If not let me know.

After opening the DB on the Computer that it works ok on did you Close it? Check the startup properties make sure it is marked to open shared not exclusive.

Any other ideas ? It was already set to open shared not exclusive.

Their tech person swears that the permissions are set ok but I also noticed that in the same folder the icon I created to put on each desktop can't be deleted from any computer but the one I put it on.

Thanks,

Does every user have the ability to create and delete files in the network folder? Do you see an LDB file in the folder? Have them try create and then delete a simple text document. If they can't, the Access mdbs may be read-only.
