Read .bmp files iin chunks to append to an ADO recordset field

Hi
I want to be able to read a bmp file in VB6 then append it to a field in an ado recordset. I was able to write "something" to the database, but when I attempt to read the file and display it with LoadPicture in vb6 I get an error "wrong file type" or something. Does anyone have a code example.
