Hello,

I create the new one of NetWorker Server with LTO Tape Drive... How can i read and recover tape from the other one or how can i merge the index server from one server to another one server,Thx

Yahdin

You can normally read in a foreign tape by running

scanner -i \\.\Tape0

(change Tape0 as appropriate for your system)

Hi Yahdin,

1) You need to scan the whole tape by using the scanner-command as described above, that's the only way to "move" a tape from one Datazone to the other.

2) There is no chance to migrate data from one datazone's Media-db into another Datazone. So If You've to move a bunch of tapes or -at least it's contents- You have to scan each single tape on the destination datazone's Networker server.

Hope it helps.

After scan the tape with scanner command, can i merge the online index volume to another networker server and recover the tape?

Scanning a tape populates the client file index and/or the media database with the saveset information that is on that tape. So if you are scanning the dape into another datazone, you do not need to merge the indexes.

One other thing that needs to be considered is how what block size the tape was written to. Different o/s's may write at different block size. Unless you set up both Networker servers to use the same block size, you will not be able to scan in the tape.

Hello all,

Thank's for your cooperation about my problem,
I've try to recover one tape from another one.
And i try with scanner command, and i've do it
succesfully... Thank's again for all of you.
