There's a ton of legacy code out there which doesn't go away because IBM buys out Informix's database products. Last week, my Informix sales engineer visited me. He says the technical side of Informix welcomes this. They're finally going to get the support to compete with Larry Elison's little company.
He further said that changes are bound to come. No one knows what they are, yet.
please do not be so naive -- Informix is dead ! IBM is saying that it will "incorporate the best futeres" from it to the DB2. Does it means that Informix as a brand will be destroed !?
Good luck with your hopes. But for me it is time to learn Oracle or SQL Server!
