HELP -- I'm frustrated!
Here's a quick rundown of the system / equipment:
Merlin Messaging Release 2 / Merlin Magix 1.5 / WinSPM Rel 4 / Lucent 4412D+

Problem: When the Night Attendant is on, the calls to my extension go directly to VM if someone dials my extension directly or uses the "dial by name" option. Additionally, my MW Light isn't working (anytime). I work late most nights and I don't know when I'm getting calls because A) my phone doesn't ring, and B) my MW Light doesn't come on.
(Also, in case it matters, no problems with internal receipt / placement of calls.)

I've gone through everything in WinSPM that I can think of as well as all options in my vMail setup. I've even copied the setup of another 4412D+ that I know works properly. I've had zero luck!!

All suggestions and tips appreciated -- Thanks!!!

In your Auto Attendant's Night Menu, what are the selector codes set to? Is is possible that the selector code for the first digit of your extension number is set to do a mailbox transfer, thus sending the call directly to the mailbox without transferring to your phone first?

Is the phone status of your mailbox set to "has a telephone"? If not, the auto attendant will not even TRY to transfer to your extension, and I don't think that it will try to light the MW light.

Also, does ANYONE get MW lights? Could be that the VM ports are not "rotary enabled"

The Auto Attendant Night Menu is new to me (I inherited the "telecom role" and I'm learning "OJT.") Re: your first suggestion, I'll check, but there are other extensions in line with mine (i.e., 105, 107, 113) that work without a problem. So, logically I eliminated that issue when I read about it in an earlier post....Is that a good assumption??

The VM Ports on the voicemail extensions ARE rotary enabled; I checked that earlier. And yes, others' MW lights are working.

The one thing that I need to check is whether the mailbox is set to "has a telephone" -- WHERE exactly do I check that (WinSPM or the Operator's Console?) It's very possible that's the problem because I transferred to a vacant office where the extension had been setup for vmail only along with a second vmail via an adjunct.

By the way, I'm only managing "hardware" from my WinSPM setup; the Messaging software was never installed so we still manage vmail through the phones themselves....

Log into the System Administrator's mailbox, press 9 for programming, press 2 for extensions, enter your mailbox and #, then you'll need to listen to the prompts (I don't have one here right now), you want to find the prompt for "phone status). When you press it, it will announce if you have or do not have a phone, and then what to press to set the status to "has a phone". That should take care of it.

Since you have other extensions in the 100 range, the Auto Attendant is probably set up properly.

Good luck!

Thanks again -- sounds very easy EXCEPT for the fact that yesterday I discovered that the System Admin password was inadvertently changed last week when a new employee's vmail box was reinitialized. So, that leads to what was going to be another post -- What's the easiest way for me to establish a new System Admin password or possibly reactivate the originakl / default??

The fun around here never stops!!

Thanks again -- your prompt response is really appreciated!!

S U C C E S S ! ! !

First, I got back into the System Admin setup after thinking that maybe my coworker accidentally reinitialized THAT box rather than the new employee's -- BINGO! I used the default "first password" and reestablished our old one.

Once I got in, sure enough, it was just as you said -- I didn't have a phone associated with the extension.

THANKS - I can go home happy today!!!!!!!!

Have a great weekend!!!!!!!!!
