Just to expand on this question; the text also appears less resolved than I experienced in the past. It has a jagged edge too... When I compare it with some of my older work it looks dreadful.

...jagged fonts indicate a corruption in the font file...

...do other fonts display OK that you choose?

...if they do, you will need to find a replacement for the one that is causing the problem...

Thanks for your input; I've found out that it is the particular background I'm using causes these font effects. Deleting it and then reinstating demonstrates this. I will experiment with a different onr...
