Re setting Autonumber

Hi all

What I would like to do it reset the autonumber either at the start of the day or when it reaches 9999 .

any idea people

Here is something to begin with. You can probably tweak this using some code to tell you when you get to 9999 then do this... or a message box that will prompt you or automatically close the database until the procedure is run.

This isn't a great idea. How will the records with duplicate IDs be differentiated?

If you insist on doing this, it can be done using either recordsets (my preferred solution) or DMax and not using autonumber.
