kriskeyman,

thanks for your assistance, but i already had that java script. the problem with it is that i am not trying to load a url. how do i get it to find the .swf file that is located on my server?
with the "getURL" command, it doesn't find the .swf file and i get a pop-up box without the bars, but there is nothing there.
what command do i use to get it to find the .swf file located on my server?

First you shoud usually never link to a .swf directly but to the .html in which the .swf is embedded.
Thus embed your .swf in a .html, upload both files to your server and the use javasript I posted in your other thread, pointing to this .html that holds the .swf.
