Re-programming 3300 switches - rewriting the firmware

Has anyone else heard of the ability to reprogram a 3300 to do some routing functions?

Essentialy, you'd be re-writing your own firmware for it.

I heard of this being done, but I wasn't sure if anyone had details as to what program language it is. I already have the utility that uploads programs to it thru the serial port, and have successfully used it to update firmware on it.
