Hi Guys

I have built a new print server in my windows 2k/2k3 enviroment. I have migrated all my printers to the new server, however I dont want all my users to have to re-map their printers. I know there are scripts and rescources available to do this but I thought maybe it was possible with a dns change, pointing the old server name to the new servers ip. I tested this by using my lmhosts file on my pc but the printer said I didnt have permissions to connect when I tried to go into properties or print. It did let me add the printer though.

Any ideas?

You'll need to run a script, logon would be the simplest.

I'm Certifiable, not cert-ified.
It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

And Markdmac has a fabulous login script in his login script FAQ that will do this for you.

If your new print server is running R2, there is a built in GPO based solution that let's you deploy printers that way. I love it.
