Hi,

I have inherited some data (or possibly not) supposedly stored in a Progress V9.1 format.

What I've actually inherited is a few files which are as follows.

bi files >> e.g. devIns.b1
dot d >> e.g. devIns.d1
structures >> e.g. devIns.st

these are the only files I have...

I've trawled endlessly for some info on these files and found nothing too helpful...

so can someone tell me what have I got? if anything useful?
can I extract the data from it with or without the use of a progress system?

basically at this point the client purely wants to retreive the data into a simple relational structure.

I'm a compitent db admin (SQL and understand the principals of 4GL systems) but know nothing about progress and it's file structure.

Thanks in advance for any help or pity ;-) offered.

alreadyin,
not sure if you can get the data without progress. with the files you have you would probably need to do a dump and then load into your new db. i'd search the peg archives ( and if you find nothing post the question there.

regards,
longhair
