Thanks for all the help on the networking, followed all the replies to the dot, we already had the computers set to DCHP, think our router may be connected up wrongly in this case. Which port should ethernet cable be connected to in the router? WAN? or UPLINK?
The mac is proving to be a real problem, do we need a DHCP server/client address?
Thanks to all our replies on last question. But please help us again! We're helpless! We don't understand jargon either, so english please, please. xx

the WAN port is to go to the Cable or DSL modem
the uplink port is to add a larger switch
the computers would go on the LAN ports

in the TCP/IP control panel on the Mac the left column is like
connect via ethernet
configure using DHCP Server
DHCP client ID (leave it blank)
Name server addr. (if a PC works, go into a MSDOS prompt (or Command Prompt) and type IPCONFIG /ALL. This will show some DNS Servers like 123.45.67.89, type these number in here. if no PC works we leave them blank unless the ISP provided them for you)

Down the right side we type the ISPs name in every blank I am jimpalmer@cableone.net so I type cableone.net you type your ISP.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
