Hi

We have a number of MAC’s ranging with OS9 upwards on Windows 2000 Server SP4 network. We also have an external HDD attached to the server. Now we are finding recently that some of the files (Quark, TIFF, PSD, etc) are gong missing randomly. We are unsure of the problem and is causing a major headache. We also have the following problems which I am unsure if they are related:

Session from user "Andelysh" was timed out and disconnected by the server. The IP address of the Macintosh workstation is in the data.

The server service was unable to recreate the share MacData because the directory E:\MacData no longer exists.

Andelyh is a user

E:\ is the external HDD

Any ideas?

I've heard recently of problems where the Mac in question has gone to sleep without flushing it's cache. you might want to configure the macs to never sleep.

I think they are unrelated - we've had the trouble and you need to reapply the permissions to the share. The disconnect doesn't seem to affect users.

We are using Appletalk with file and print services for Macintosh.
