Hi!

I have the problem, that I must check my installation with RDP (Remote Desktop) afterwards and I don't want to restart the computer. The computer is set to Autologin and ForceLogin - so after a logout from the local user, the defined user will be logged in again - automatically.

During my RDP session the local screen is locked and even if I logout from my RDP session the pc won't login again.
I have already tested different methods to logout again, but there seems to be a registry key or anything else which doesn't allow to run the forcelogin.

Does anybody know a solution (but not the restart) to get the local desktop unlocked again? Or like I have tried, a logout followed by a login automatically?

Would be great if I could get a solution for this.

Thanks

Does a thread like this offer you any solution, apologies if they are not relevant?

Possibly down at the end of this thread too there is some ideas.

How To Turn On Remote Desktop Automatic Logon in Windows XP

Is there a reason that the real user at the remote machine can't just log in again normally?

This pc is like a control room computer, 24x7 used, no rights for the defined user and workers (sorry, I don't know the correct job title in English) don't know the password. So if the local screen is locked, I have to phone them and tell them the password (which they will write down!) - not the way I like.

I will try the "Two Remote Desktop Connection" and post the outcome, but I think it is not useable, the control room software can not be used with terminal services - it can only once be started and I must check with this software, if my changes work correctly.

Thanks for your answers till now

OK, I have to go more to the details as I thought. The pc is using a Matrox graficcard, because the Control Room Software needs the whole windows desktop over 2 or more monitors (and this can't be done with ATI or NVidia, the have stopped this kind of driver).
Matrox needs also the hardware acceleration activated, while VNC and PCAnywhere need it disabled. The pc is not connected to the internet (as are the most control room computers) and can therefor not use LogMeIn. If I install PCAnywhere the configuration of the combined desktop will be lost.

Have you looked at what effect Fast User switching may have on locking the Desktop you are remotely connecting too?

"If Fast User Switching Is Enabled

If Fast User Switching is enabled the behavior will be different from when it is not enabled, since the logged user will not be logged off, but instead will be disconnected and can resume their session later."

How a Remote Desktop Connection Affects Windows XP Professional

Another suggestion from the same thread as above was this.

"On the host machine (via remote desktop!) do:

Start, Run, %windir%\System32\tscon.exe 0 /dest:console

See whether that has the desired effect. "

How to disable client PC welcome/unlock computer screen af..

On the host machine (via remote desktop!) do:
Start, Run, %windir%\System32\tscon.exe 0 /dest:console

This has worked like I wanted it, Thanks a lot

Well, it really works, but not if you have a remote system with 2 or monitors. I had to use RealVNC - this is working with my settings of the grafikcard and also doesn't change the position of the desktop icons or the already opened windows.
