Hi

I feel really stupid!
I have a new PC and have installed SQL Server and the Sp3a for both SQL 2K and AS, but I don't have any of the Foodmart stuff set up.

Is there something else I'm supposed to do? It's been so long since I installed this I can't remember anything else other than the SP3a.

Thanks.

Hi,

Silly question but you never know... have you installed SQL Server AND Analysis Services? They need to be installed seperately and to my knowledge, SQL Server on its own only installs northwind and pubs.

Failing that, is there an option button/check box during the AS install process to install the foodmart2000 db? Might be worth uninstalling AS and redoing it, checking screen by screen.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Leigh

You're only as good as your last backup!

Now you mention it...

I didn't install AS, our network person did. I installed SP3a.

Perhaps I had better check out what was installed as you suggested by uninstalling and doing it myself.

Thanks for the idea. :)

Let me know how you get on.

Foodmart is an optional install that is created when you do a default install of AS or if you select it while doing a custom install. Not sure about your network guy but I know a number of network guys that don't install the sample databases when they do installs.

Hmm.

I reinstalled myself and still don't get any demo cubes etc.

So where do I go from here?

If you only want the FoodMart database then you can always just use MSAS and restore the archived file

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Analysis Services\Samples\foodmart 2000.cab

Doh!

You're a star.
