RE-INSTALLED XP HOME - WINDOW COVERS START BAR

Im not sure why the windows are covering the whole screen - they cover the Lower task bar - you know the one - that runs the llength at the bottom of screen - why is this? Resolution set wrong? Its at 1028 i think. thx
 
You can set the taskbar to be always on top or not. It's under properties of task bar.

Go to start -- control panel - start and task bar. should be under there.
 
Can you press Windows Key + M to minimize all windows, then right-click on a blank area of the Desktop, check Properties and check your Display Setting via Settings?

What type of Monitor are you using, check the manufacturers web site to hopefully find the default display settings for it?
 
Thanks - it was just the setting - Task Bar on Top - I swear - I can never remember all the little things huh!
