Anyone have any idea what filesets I would need to re-install all the files in /usr/bin?

One of our customers blew away /usr/bin and doesn't have a mksysb

A complete re-install might be an issue as this is a database box with lots of custom configurations for the disks etc.

I noticed under software maintenance there is an option for software bundles and under that an "AllDevicesKernals" and a "server" bundle option.

Any help appreciated as the box won't even boot right now, we sent them the 4.3.3 install cd's and they should be able to get to maintenance mode with that
Thanks
Norm

can't you simply copy /usr/bin from another box to this one ?

rgds,

R.

can't log on, it won't finish booting with booting from CD

Option 1: start from CD a maintenance shell, without mounting the internal filesystems. It mounts the cdrom filesystems, and you should be able to mount your internal / and copy the cdrom /usr/bin content to there. It won't restore all the filesets you had installed, but it should let you boot now.

Option 2: preservation install from the CDs, instead of complete re-install.

Nice tip Morefeo

But i guess the second option will not help much in this case cause it will wipe out /usr, /var, /tmp, and / !

Code:
Preservation
This method replaces an earlier version of the BOS but retains the root volume group, the user-created logical volumes, and the /home file system. The system file systems /usr, /var, /tmp, and / (root) are overwritten. Product (application) files and configuration data stored in these file systems will be lost. Information stored in other non-system file systems will be preserved.
For instructions on preserving the user-defined structure of an existing BOS, refer to Installing new and complete BOS overwrite or preservation.

Thanks for replying but we ended up finally doing an overwrite which is too bad as we have to completely rebuild the server now.
I tried:
copying everything from the CD /bin to /bin , wasn't as much on the CD as I'd hoped for
tried rebooting got this:
Gets to the mount rootvg part and then displays.

/etc/getrootfs[498]: /usr/bin/ksh: cannot execute.

Tried installing just the commands file set
Installp -aX -d /SPOT/usr/sys/inst.images/bos.rte.commands
It complained about being a lower version, tried forcing it with a -f flag still didn't work

Tried burning everything in /bin on another machine and tried coping that to /bin .....hung machine everytime on copy

Tried Preservation install, got this:
The boot logical volume (hd5) must be at least 8 megabytes.
The system you are installing has a boot logical volume
smaller than this, and the system does not have enough
free contiguous physical partitions on hdisk6 to increase
the size of the boot logical volume.

Once I got that I figured I better just give up and do an overwrite

The beat goes on.....
